IDP Instructor Bios
Nora Daley-Peng
Ms. Daley-Peng is a registered landscape architect and LEED Accredited Professional dedicated to sustainable solutions. Nora is a project manager for LEED and Sustainable Building projects with O’Brien & Company. She is an excellent public speaker who effectively conveys knowledge of sustainable design principles through her first-hand experiences from working on LEED projects from conception to construction. Nora is both a graduate of the Sustainable Building Advisor Certificate Program (CSBA) and an instructor for the “Importance of Place: Site Assessment” session of the program.
Devin Kleiner
Devin Kleiner is a project designer at Perkins+Will and leads the Sustainable Design Initiative for the Seattle office. He co-taught a graduate design studio at the University of Washington where students designed projects to meet the Living Building Challenge. He is currently coordinating the LEED process and sustainable design for the Center for Urban Waters, a lab and office building in Tacoma designed to LEED Platinum.

Kathleen O'Brien
Kathleen O’Brien is a nationally recognized leader in the field of sustainability, having been in the field as a writer, educator, strategic planner, and project consultant for nearly 25 years. She has won several regional leadership awards including Kitsap County YWCA Woman of Achievement (2001), Sustainable Seattle’s Outstanding Leadership Award (2006), Kitsap County Earth Day Award for Environmental Leadership (2007), and most recently, she was recognized by the Cascadia Region Green Building Council as a Cascadia Fellow – a lifetime achievement award (2008). Kathleen is a LEED Accredited Professional, a Certified Sustainable Building Advisor, and earned her Masters at Antioch University in Environment and Community. Her new book, The Northwest Green Home Primer (Timberpress) is her first full-length publication aimed at the layperson. Kathleen’s forte is to distill abstract concepts into meaningful ideas you can put into practice.
Amanda Sturgeon
Amanda Sturgeon, AIA is an architect and Senior Associate with Perkins + Will Seattle and leads the sustainable design initiative for Perkins+Will nationally. Amanda has significant expertise on numerous sustainable building projects, winning numerous awards including the Living Building Challenge competition in 2007 and the first LEED Platinum project in Washington State. She is currently the project manager for the Husky Union Building project at the University of Washington which is aiming for LEED Platinum.
