After working for a short-time in print journalism, she got involved in real estate and became a realtor while also working as the Assistant to the Director of Sustainability for a residential and commercial development company down in Texas. She then returned to the Portland area, where she worked for a year and a half for a mid-sized developer, helping develop and grow its green building activities and construction practices. She is a LEED accredited professional and has helped lead her company's efforts to work with the City of Scapoose, planners and engineers to build the first LEED building in Columbia County. Shaina now works with the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland as their Green Building Coordinator. Shaina has been an active member of the Emerging Green Builders for the past year and a half and looks forward to taking on a larger leadership role, she is active in several green building organizations around Portland and has several ideas for future Emerging Green Builder roles within the community.
Communications Chair
Natalie Cannon
Natalie Cannon has been an active member of the Emerging Green Builders since 2008. She has been consistently involved in EGB monthly meetings, EGB events, and assisting the Executive Committee with organizational coordination and planning.
After last year’s EGB Visioning Session, she became involved in the Outreach Committee, helping to plan EGB events and volunteering at the events. She then took on a leadership role supporting the coordination of the Petal Series lectures and Natural Talent Design Competition (NTDC). Natalie took on many tasks similar to the Communications Chair responsibilities. She helped to lead the planning and promotion of the Petal Series and NTDC by distributing promotional materials to local schools, groups and organizations, coordinating other EGB members to carry out promotional tasks, securing the venue for the Petal Series, and posting information on the EGB website.
Natalie has been trained to edit EGB website content and has assisted the current EGB Secretary to update calendar and event-related content. She has led communication with Portland event partners, acting as a liaison for the EGB Executive Committee, and is eager to expand this role into the greater Cascadia Chapter and state-wide EGB programs and events.
