Starting an EGB Group

The national USGBC Emerigng Green Builders Committee has put together some great materials for getting an EGB group started. If you would like to start an EGB group in your region, contact your local Cascadia EGB rep or USGBC Chapter to coordinate your efforts with other EGB'ers in your area. An EGB group has no need to seek out there own non-profit status as they are a committee of  their local USGBC chapter.

LEED Study Materials

Part of "emerging" into the green building industry is understanding green building standards, like the USGBC's LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) standard.  To become a LEED Accredited Professional (buildings are certified, people are accredited) you must pass the LEED exam, a 100 question, 2 hour exam testing you on your knowledge and understanding of the LEED process and documentation. A number of materials have been put together to help individuals study for the exam.

*As of Oct. 31st you will no longer be able to sit for the LEED 2.1 exam.  There will be a black out date at the end of the year.

Getting Involved

To get involved in the Cascadia Emerging Green builders, contact your regional chair.  There are plenty of volunteer opportunities available! A great way to get tuned in is to sign up for the National EGB Correspondence Committee, or attend USGBC's annual Greenbuild conference. The Cascadia EGB is currently working on the national EGB 2007 Natural Talent Design Competition, as well as a program of regional  events, internship programs, educational tools, posters and art projects. Cascadia EGB has put together a survey to help inform individuals of what kind of opportunities there are currently available with the EGB.  Check it out.  You can also check out our blog spot we keep updated with current EGB news, events and opportunities.
