What is the role of the building code in supporting and regulating
sustainable building practices? This question is facing many building
code officials at all levels of government. With LEED projects on the
rise and myriad sustainable building strategies gaining popularity, how
can building code officials maintain health and safety goals while
meeting the demands of a changing building industry?
Three presenters will share their experience and the latest information
from local and national fronts to help all stakeholders answer these
questions. Following the presentations will be a question and answer
session.
Topics include:
1 - ASHRAE Standard 189P, High-Performance Green Buildings, is out for
public review, co-sponsored by USGBC and IESNA, it defines a minimum
green building performance level, and could be considered for adoption
into building codes.
2 - Do building codes and standards achieve minimum certification level
or better in LEED? A case study from the City of Vancouver, British
Columbia.
3 - Oregon water use and reuse regulations, current state and future prospects.
4 - Needs and strategies the Clinton Climate Initiative is finding in municipalities across the US.
Registration begins at 8AM
