Optimizing the energy efficiency of a building has always been one of the most effective means of improving a project’s sustainability and increasing a project’s LEED Rating.  Recently, the USGBC has taken measures to emphasize the importance of energy efficiency by requiring all new LEED projects to achieve a minimum of two EAc1 points for “Optimizing Energy Performance.”  Come learn from distinguished experts in the field how to optimize your EAc1 points and effectively document your achievements in your LEED Application.  Doug Smith, a senior mechanical engineer with Interface Engineering, will walk us through the prescriptive paths available for EAc1 achievement.  Nathan Miller and Gaurav Mehta, both of Stantec, will offer tips and techniques on how projects can design their buildings and systems to maximize efficiency and EAc1 points using whole-building energy-simulations up to the 50% energy savings level (10 pts!).  Also as EAc1 LEED Reviewers for the USGBC, Nathan and Gaurav will offer advice on how to best document EAc1 during the LEED Application process.
