The purpose of the July BSUG session is to present a case study of an elementary school in Springfield, OR which is participating in the High Performance Schools Program. The project is unique in that it employs a two-pipe changeover HVAC system. As the design team embarked on the energy modeling in eQUEST, a number of challenges were encountered. The presentation will include the following topics:
- Background on the project including the motive for selecting a two-pipe system
- A short synopsis of how a two-pipe system works
- Code regulations affecting the mechanical design and energy model
- Setting up the hydronic system in eQUEST
- Inputting of code regulations in the eQUEST model
- Problems encountered with the model, and;
- Troubleshooting techniques employed.
