A forum and workshop for Building Practitioners to examine the
connect/disconnect between green building rating systems, the Standards
& Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada and
the new BC green building code.

| Let's apply what we learned today using a real historic rehab project. A preservation consultant will provide us with the historic context of a local building(s). A facilitator will then provide information about what to expect during Tuesday's session. |

Orientation for Field Exercise |
| A facilitator will provide an introduction and instructions for the
field exercise at the heritage building. During this exercise,
participants will tour the building to identify issues and formulate
appropriate responses for the rehabilitation to meet building codes,
green building rating systems, and the Standards & Guidelines for
the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada. Meet team leaders who
will be assisting in the exercise. Dress warmly and wear comfortable

| Teams will report on issues and questions raised during the investigation as well as recommendations. Teams shouls focus on recommendations or notes that could be made to CaGBC (LEED Canada), the Historic Places Initiative (Standards &
Guidelines) and the BC Building Policy Branch (BC Green Building Code)
related to greening of existing and historic properties. A facilitator will wrap up the field exercise with observations and a dialogue with participants. |
