Background

BC has 37 LEED certified buildings, which is more than any other province in Canada. BC is leading in other ways as well. The provincial government has also committed BC to having its operations "carbon neutral" by 2010; having all new public buildings minimum LEED Gold or equivalent and achieving GHG reduction for the province of at least 33 per cent below 2007 levels by 2020.

Green Skyline serves to showcase past achievements and to give you an opportunity to see a variety of ways in which buildings can achieve LEED and other standards. We hope that you’ll be able to take with you a better understanding of the innovative green and sustainable building features and systems that can be utilized to create these buildings.

Purpose

The purpose of this tour is to give an introduction to green commercial buildings and homes. The audience is British Columbia's design, construction and real estate industries as well as the general public. On the tours, whether you are an industry insider or a member of the general public, you will find out what features are “green,” what the costs and benefits are of green building, and how you can incorporate such features into your next home or future project.

Here are some of the buildings on the Vancouver, North Vancouver and West Vancouver tours...
