SEFC Sustainability features
Below is a list of the sustainable features of the projects on the SEFC site:

District heat - City utility (NEU), heat source two forced main sewers.

Rain water channeled in streets or under in infiltration galleries, take to parks where it is bio-remediate before release to the Creek.

On-site water used on green roofs -all buildings.

Water not used there, delivered to Cisterns in the underground parking - stored and used for toilet flushing.

All unit with decks or balconies under 100 sq. ft. (10 sq. m) have garden plots on-site.

Demonstration garden near school.

Reduced parking averaging about 1.2 spaces per unit (Concord is 1.6).

Bikes designed in throughout, three greenways converge on-site.

Streetcar on First Ave.

City pays for modern system between Granville Island and ScienceWorld.

All buildings over 50 units must provide a car and a space for car share.

All buildings LEED Gold.

Thicker walls and air shafts excluded from floor area.

All facades designed with the sun in mind e.g.. overhangs, shades, blinds in West.

Community Centre - LEED Platinum.

Net Zero building - Seniors affordable housing, also targeted at LEED Platinum.

With all this energy and water use down over 50 percent.

One third of the units are either non-market (251) or market rental (120).
