Topic: Social Equity
Whether referred to as the Three E’s (environment, economy, equity), the Three P’s (planet, profit, people), or the Triple Bottom Line (financial, environmental, social), sustainability is defined by three, integrated elements. Yet, the equity dimension is often neglected and poorly understood. Across the life cycle of a project – from site selection to design, construction to occupancy – how equitably are the burdens and benefits of development distributed? As we build for people do we fully consider the human side of our building decisions?
Join Jill Fuglister, the Co-Director of the Portland area's Coalition for a Livable Future, in this informative and interactive session designed to enhance understanding about what equity is, why it’s relevant, and tools that may be useful for addressing this important topic in the development community.
