Oregon energy code requirements for residential new construction are maximizing the energy savings for current construction practices.  In order to reduce energy use further, alternative building techniques need to be implemented. This presentation will focus on building science principles, best practices and improved techniques for energy-efficient, durable buildings and remodels. Participants will discover effective applications and reasoning for preventing heat loss by creating a strong building envelope, resulting in comfortable clients living in energy-efficient buildings.

Our speaker, Eli Caudill with Energy Trust, provides field training for home performance testing and technical support for contractors participating in the Energy Trust program. He has five years of experience focused in energy efficiency and building science components of new residential construction. He holds a degree in Environmental Science from Willamette University and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Portland State University and has also owned and operated a contracting business that specialized in determining and providing cost effective solutions for residential energy efficiency.
