Topic: Brownfields
Speaker: Clark Henry, Portland Bureau of Environmental Services
Clark Henry of the Bureau of Environmental Services will explore the subject of Brownfield Redevelopment. Clark Henry holds a B.A. in Community Development and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning degree from Portland State University. The past seven years he has worked with the City of Portland Brownfield Program. As Program Manager, he is responsible for managing cooperative agreements with the Federal Environmental Protection Agency, managing environmental assessment and remediation projects, public outreach, intergovernmental relations, resource development, public relations, contract management, community partnerships, program growth and administration. Through this position he provides direction to other municipalities, business, individuals, and non-profit organizations on brownfield redevelopment projects including mixed use development, affordable and market rate housing, parks/open space, private businesses and public transportation. On a social sustainability front he is currently partnering with community-based organizations to create a new non-profit entity for turning brownfields into community driven greenspace/community spaces through a granting organization called GroundWork USE. Other professional and advocacy experience includes work around local improvement districts, affordable housing and environmental health.
