BIOMASS HEAT: AN IDEAL RENEWABLE ENERGY SOLUTION FOR CENTRAL OREGON
Hosted by Cascadia's High Desert Branch
Bring your lunch and join us to learn about how biomass thermal energy systems can contribute to sustainability, energy independence, and prosperity in Central Oregon.
Using woody biomass as heating fuel for large buildings and campuses can help to reduce dependence on fossil fuels such as heating oil and natural gas; reduce CO2 emissions from thermal energy generation; expand forest restoration and hazardous forest fuel reduction work; and save us money on fuel costs and create local jobs.
During this brown bag lunch seminar Phil Chang, COIC’s Natural Resource Program Administrator, will describe:
- What biomass is and what makes it an excellent heating fuel
- What makes biomass boiler systems different from other boiler systems
- Example projects from around Eastern Oregon
- What makes a facility a good candidate for a biomass heat system
- We’ll reserve lots of time for questions and answers and for discussion among the green building community!
