Urban biodiversity interfaces such as green roofs and living walls provide a multitude of environmental benefits while creating pleasant urban green spaces. This presentation will overview these benefits and showcase a variety of green building envelopes from around the world.
Bio –While completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Geneviève has specialized in regenerative systems design in the aim of fostering mutually beneficial exchanges between the natural world and our built environment. Her focus on indigenous species allows for the replenishment of native biodiversity through the introduction of regenerative interfaces such as green roofs and living walls. While enhancing the livability of our urban hardscapes, these systems provide multiple ecological services such as stormwater management, energy efficiency, enhanced air quality and habitat to create an urban green oasis. During the past 4 years, Geneviève has worked in the living building envelope industry as an R&D director and Representative. She designed multiple green roofs and living wall systems, taught over 100 AIBC accredited seminars, written published articles and given multiple lectures on the topic. Currently, Genevieve teaches green roof courses at the Centre for Architectural Ecology and is the primary consultant of MUBI, a collaborative which provides living building envelope designs and services.
