Green
buildings and how they relate to building codes and regulations has
become a major focus in the design and construction industry as
innovative systems and standards continue to push the envelope on
sustainability. This training addresses the need for education and
awareness around green building and the building codes in both the
public and private sectors. Together, these two groups can effectively
identify code conflicts and develop solutions for overcoming obstacles
to sustainable development
within the context of safeguarding public health and welfare.
Workshop Overview
The
workshop will provide detailed information and practical applications
of green building as it relates to building codes while engaging
participants in group discussions and activities. The course will
include:
- What is green building?
- Making sense of green building standards, both regional and national
- Green building technologies & best practices
- Code barriers to green buildings & opportunities for addressing obstacles
- Case studies & lessons learned
