Low Impact Development, or LID, is an increasingly popular alternative
to traditional stormwater management practices that emphasizes the use
of landscaping and site design to reduce runoff and protect water
quality.
CNU Cascadia invites you to attend a guided walking tour of
development projects located in Seattle's South Lake Union and
Belltown neighborhoods that incorporate LID strategies. Strategies to
be discussed include bioretention/rain gardens, cisterns and rain
barrels, green roofs, porous pavement and bioswales. Other sustainable
development activities, including the LEED for Neighborhood
Development program, will also be discussed. Following the tour,
attendees are invited to meet for informal post-tour discussion at
Caffe Bella (2621 5th Ave).
Tour attendance is limited to 20 individuals; advanced registration through Brown Paper Tickets is required.
