How will climate change affect the built environment?

Roger Hamilton, Senior Energy and Public Policy Advisor
Climate Leadership Initiative

While reducing greenhouse gas emissions is imperative to stabilize our climate in the long-term, we are already seeing the effects of climate change on our natural systems. Understanding how these changes will affect our region will allow us to better prepare for a changing climate. A study by the Climate Leadership Initiative and other partners projected the likely future climate conditions in our region and identified the potential risks to our human, economic and built systems. In this presentation, Roger will present the findings from this study, focusing on:  the local effects of climate change; the likely consequences of climate change on the built environment; and general recommendations for preparing our buildings for these changes. This presentation is the first in a series on Climate Change & the Built Environment.
