Katie Spataro will present the highlights of a recent Cascadia report that analyzed code and regulatory barriers to the Living Building Challenge and talk specifically about the findings related to projects seeking net zero water strategies in Washington State. She will discuss Cascadia’s current research efforts around water including work with the City of Seattle to map the regulatory pathway for a project seeking approval for water harvesting, reuse and onsite treatment.

Katie Spataro has over a decade of experience working in the building industry as a construction project manager, program manager and green building consultant to support her role at the Cascadia Green Building Council providing research on code and regulatory barriers to green building. Engaging public agencies and project teams alike, Katie works to address obstacles and identify solutions to more sustainable development practices. Over the last few years, Katie has been working closely in the realm of land use and building codes, facilitating local government efforts to remove barriers and create meaningful incentives in support of high performance projects.
