Mercy Corps’s new LEED® Platinum facility is designed in a spirit that is consistent with the sensitivity, dynamism, and sustainable practices intrinsic to the international aid organization. The project included the renovation of the Packer-Scott building, built in 1892, and the construction of a new building, which is a clear expression of its time, incorporating sustainable design and simultaneously complementing the character of the Packer-Scott building and the neighborhood.

Sustainable features include: restoring or reusing 75% of existing building; 35% of energy supply from green power; more than 50% reduction in potable water used for irrigation by more than and more than 75% for flush and flow fixtures; naturally filtering stormwater runoff; PV integrated glass sunscreens that shading southern-exposed glass; 30% reduced energy use through efficiency; and 95% recycling of construction waste.
