This month's topic: Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion Project

The Vancouver Convention Centre expansion earned its LEED Platinum rating in February 2010 - the first convention centre in North America to be awarded this distinction. The team used a collaborative, integrated approach to working together on the design, construction, and operations strategies that led to the achievement of this target. This presentation will discuss some of the unique features of the building, including the living roof, blackwater treatment system, and marine habitat skirt, as well as some interesting stories and lessons learned from the process.

Presenter: Lindsay Cole, Sustainability Solutions Group

Lindsay is a veteran of sustainability work in Canada and beyond. She works with organizations, builders, municipalities and institutions to ingrain sustainability frameworks into their projects and organizations. She is an expert at developing sustainability indicators and is an experienced facilitator of Integrated Design Processes. Lindsay developed the Campus Sustainability Assessment Framework currently being used to assess and report on sustainability issues for over 30 Canadian university and college campuses across Canada and the US. Lindsay has played a leading or support role on over 40 LEED projects, including the Vancouver Island Technology Park, the first Canadian project to earn a LEED certification.
