Ecodistricts are a new, performance-based approach to neighborhood and city planning. Ecodistricts take the goals and principles of green building and stretch them over a neighborhood to achieve deeper, more meaningful sustainability goals than a single building can manage. They will eventually create interconnected infrastructure to more efficiently use resources that individual buildings often waste.
- Participants will be able to propose performance baseline criteria for a city district or neighborhood in terms of Building Energy Use, Water Use, and Vehicle Miles Traveled, and set performance goals based on these baselines
- Participants will be able to construct a framework for building community involvement and commitment towards achieving district performance goals against an established benchmark
- Participants will be able to identify and employ appropriate tools for improving existing building operations
- Participants will be able to evaluate district infrastructure solutions for different neighborhood types
