Cascadia Green Building Council presents an evening meeting featuring Paul Horton, principal of Paul Horton Consulting Group, LLC and founding executive committee member of the North American Sustainable Transportation Council. Paul Horton will present on the challenge of creating truly sustainable transportation systems and explore the critical differences between emerging sustainable transportation rating systems including the new Sustainable Transportation and Access Rating System (STARS).
Bio: Paul Horton's leadership experience includes founding and managing the non-profit Climate Solutions, serving as corporate sustainability director for the engineering firm David Evans & Associates, teaching sustainable business at the Evergreen State College, and, most recently, providing strategic sustainability consulting services to public and private sector clients. Paul has extensive experience in the areas of climate change, energy efficiency, renewable energy, green building, and sustainable transportation and land use. He is a co-founder and Vice Chair of the new North American Sustainable Transportation Council that is developing STARS, the Sustainable Transportation and Access Rating System. Paul earned his BA from the Evergreen State College and a Certificate in Sustainable Business from the Bainbridge Graduate Institute.

Taking the lead from the Living Future 2010 tag line, “Hope: Revaluing Community,” Oregon’s Transformational Lecture Series will establish a through-line for revaluing the greater community of Oregon by addressing the enormous challenges confronting the state of Oregon and the importance of moving to a more self-sufficient economy for a secure and sustainable future.
