leaders Jason Grant, Peter Nowack, Ian Hanna of FSC and Brian Hart of
SGP as they present the latest in green printing and sustainable paper
choices. The sessions are designed to prepare marketers, designers,
printers, and print/paper buyers with the tools to make environmentally

The Case and Context for Sustainable Forestry and FSC Certification
An overview of the practices and trends that we need to move away from
in order to transition toward a sustainable forest products industry,
one of the keystones of a sustainable print and paper industry. Also, a
general introduction to Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification,
widely considered the “gold standard” for certified paper and other
forest products.

Chain-of-Custody Certification
If you are considering getting FSC-certified but haven't yet done so, or
you simply want a deeper understanding of how FSC CoC Certification
works, this session is for you. Topics that will be covered include
steps for preparing for an FSC CoC audit, individual vs. group
certification, shopping for an auditor, demystification of FSC "control
systems" (Transfer system, Percentage System, and Credit System), FSC
"claims" (e.g. FSC Pure, FSC Recycled Credit, FSC Mixed 70%) and labels,
and more!

Responsible paper sourcing is a top-of-mind topic for brands, print
buyers and printing providers alike. But just what is meant by
“responsible”? And what factors should a paper purchaser consider in
order to make the “responsible choice”? We’ll take a cradle-to-cradle
look at paper to find the answers you need to know. And we’ll bring you
up to speed on the newly-amended Lacey Act – legislation that has big
implications for purchasers of paper and paper-based products across the
supply chain.
