Topic: Renovating For The Triple Bottom Line - High Performance, Healthy Building Solutions![]()
Bio:
Tom's passion for over 28 years has been to deliver high
performance, healthy building solutions – for both existing buildings and new
construction – that provide triple bottom line value. An author of
numerous published papers and journal articles and a frequent speaker, Tom has
a diverse technical background that underpins his current mechanical
sustainable design focus and helps foster the integrative thinking such work
demands. Tom focuses on sustainable design consulting, HVAC design, net
zero energy design and analysis, system modeling, total cost of ownership (life
cycle cost) analysis, capital asset assessment, and renewable energy
applications. As Senior Vice President of WSP Flack + Kurtz’s Seattle
office, he is proud to be a member of a practice that boasts numerous LEED-certified,
award-winning projects. Tom is a member of the USGBC/ASHRAE/IESNA jointly
sponsored technical Committee that recently published the first ANSI-accredited
high performance green building standard. Also active in his community,
Tom served as a member of Seattle’s Green Building Task Force and it’s Living
Building Pilot Technical Advisory Group, served as a technical reviewer for the
recently passed Washington State energy efficiency legislation (E2SSB 5854),
and sits on the Board of the Cascadia Green Building Council.
