Workshop Description:

The new Sustainable Sites (SITES) rating system evaluates site and landscape design, similar to the LEED system for green buildings (learn more at http://www.sustainablesites.org/report). This workshop will present an overview of the SITES rating guidelines, and show how these metrics can be used to inspire quality and performance throughout project design and construction. Three projects among over 150 selected for the SITES pilot program will demonstrate the challenges and benefits of using this new rating system to guide sustainable site design. Panelists will explore where these innovative guidelines are leading us, and discuss how they are changing professional practice and the design process.

Presenter:  Debra Guenther ASLA, LEED AP, principal Mithun.
Panelists:  Susan Olmsted ASLA, Mithun;  Matthew Suhadolnik ASLA, LEED AP, SvR Design Company;  Clayton Beaudoin LEED AP and Flora Yeh ASLA, LEED AP, SiteWorkshop Landscape Architecture.
