Topic: Foresight: Leadership for Sustainability
Bio:
Kathleen O’Brien is a nationally recognized leader in the field of
sustainability, having been in the field as a writer, educator,
strategic planner, and project consultant for nearly 30 years. She has
been recognized for her contributions to the green building movement
through the years, most recently by the Cascadia Green Building Council
in 2008 when she was awarded the title of Cascadia Fellow, and in 2009
when Antioch University selected her as their Distinguished Alumna.
Earlier awards include the Sustainable Seattle's Outstanding Leadership
Award (2006), the Kitsap County Earth Day Award for Environmental
Leadership (2007), and the YWCA Woman of Achievement Award (2001).
Kathleen is a prolific writer and has published dozens of articles and
publications on a variety of sustainable building topics, including The
Northwest Green Home Primer published in 2008 (Timberpress).

The Transformational Lecture Series aims to inspire all building industry professionals to embrace their role in creating as sustainable built environment now, as well as ensuring that sustainability becomes integral to all development in the future. In an effort to both reduce cost and carbon emissions, and to inspire the local community, most speakers are notable local heroes and reside in the Pacific Northwest.
