Cascadia is proud to announce the following seminars:
The Living Building Challenge
What if every single act of design and construction made the world a better place? The Living Building Challenge (LBC) is a philosophy, advocacy tool and certification program that addresses development at all scales. It is comprised of seven performance areas: Site, Water, Energy, Health, Materials, Equity and Beauty. The purpose of the Living Building Challenge is straightforward – it defines the most advanced measure of sustainability in the built environment possible today and acts to diminish the gap between current limits and ideal solutions. The Living Building Challenge provides a framework for design, construction and the symbiotic relationship between people and all aspects of the built environment.
Presenter: Scott Stolarczyk, AIA, CDT, LEED AP BD+C
Scott is an architect with Robertson/Sherwood/Architects of Eugene. He is the co-Chair of the Eugene Branch of the Cascadia Region Green Building Counsel, is a volunteer facilitator of the newly formed Eugene Living Building Collaborative, which is part of network of the International Living Future Institute, the organization that develops and oversees the Living Building Challenge.
The Evolution of LEED
The LEED rating system is constantly under review, with proposed updates and comment periods at regular intervals. LEED 2012, like 2009 before it, promises many changes both small and large. This one hour seminar will address the proposed changes in the latest draft version of LEED 2012, so you can be prepared for what is coming with the next major revision.
Presenter: Gabriel Cross, LEED AP BD+C
Gabriel is a managing member at New Axiom, LLC, a sustainability consulting firm. Gabriel teaches the LEED rating system to emerging green professionals as an adjunct instructor at the Northwest Energy Education Institute (NEEI). As a steering committee member of the Cascadia Green Building Council, Eugene, Gabriel helps to bring quality continuing education content to the LEED APs in the southern Willamette Valley. Gabriel contributes a column on sustainability to the iPinion Syndicate, an online publication as well as keeping a more informal blog.
