A Living Building inspires, educates, and provides beauty and spirit. These admittedly subjective elements are integral to the program of any building intended to return a net benefit to its community. Explore the process of creating building elements meant for human delight, plumbing the depths of the concept of beauty. Hands-on exercises help attendees apply these ideas to a Living Building. Gain insight on how to create an educational program to help share the story of creating a transformational building and provide  inspiration and knowledge transfer.

Mandating beauty is an impossible task. Yet we believe we elevate the level of discussion and, ultimately, the results through attempting difficult but critical tasks. In the Living Building Challenge, prerequisites in the Beauty + Inspiration petal are based on intention and attempt. We do not begin to assume we should project our own aesthetic values onto others. But asking people's intention helps ensure there is an effort to enrich people's lives with each square foot of construction on each project. This intentionality must carry forth into a program for educating the public about the environmental and health qualities of their Living Building.
