B02: Spirit + meaning in design
Buildings must be more than efficient and healthy--they must celebrate place, community, and the user. Designing to provide this functionality requires insight and energy. In this session, participants will explore various approaches to making spirit and meaning integral to buildings.
We will be offering this session again in 2009 if you missed the live session in June, 2008. Sessions are $75 for Cascadia members and $90 for nonmembers.
Presenters:
Jason McLennan is CEO of the Cascadia Region Green Building Council and author of The Philosophy of Sustainable Design. Previously with BNIM, Jason has worked intensively with a variety of high profile advanced green building projects. Jason will discuss how a deep regard for the environment imbues a project with meaning.
David Lake is principal with Lake/Flato architects, AIA national firm award winner from 2004. Lake/Flato is renowned for forging a new vernacular using simple, natural and regional materials to memorable effect.
