Toxicology is the study of the adverse effects of substances on organisms. Only a tiny proportion of the human-made substances in use today have been thoroughly studied for their toxicological effects, and far fewer than this have been studied in combination. By understanding the basics of toxicology, we can make design and materials selection choices that follow a precautionary approach. This session will explore the fundamentals of toxicology and examine the building design and construction implications.
