Highlights from Living Future 07!

Cascadia and AIA Seattle COTE’s joint Living Future 07 “unconference” drew over 600 people for an inspiring and engaging line up of speakers and interactive sessions that enabled change, promoted dialogue and created valuable networks. The overarching theme of our event was mitigating climate change and providing a path towards a future of Living Buildings. The feedback from the design, construction, governmental and real estate communities has been fantastic, and we want to thank all who attended for your passion and hard work to make our buildings and communities more sustainable.

Praise for Living Future 07

My experience both as an exhibitor and as a participant was thoroughly enjoyable and duly inspiring. In talking with many people in attendance, I can say with confidence that the vast majority have similarly positive opinions as to quality and content.

Equally valuable (and perhaps more so) was the connectivity between fellow members and members and staff. The building of these communication bridges will serve the Chapter well as we draw upon each others' knowledge and experience to strive toward Living Buildings and a healthy environment.

Living Future 07 was a breath of fresh air.  Everything about the conference – the location of the venue (in the heart of Seattle – walking distance to everything) , the catered food, the venders,  the content of the breakout sessions and the speakers themselves were all top notch!  This was especially impressive considering how everything was filtered with through a lens of sustainability, to make the conference’s impact as small as possible.

Conference attendees had the opportunity to laugh it up with green building legends, Bob Berkebile and Lynne Barker.	An attendee peruses the wide selection of green building related books available in the exhibit hall.
Participants have ample opportunity to collaborate in intimate breakout sessions.	Seattle mayor Greg Nickels engages with Cascadia CEO, Jason F. McLennan, board member Paul Anseeuw, and Janet Stevenson of  City of Seattle Green Building Team.
A connection is made during one of many  Living Future networking opportunities, including the exhilarating Speed Networking session.	Green building legend, Bob Berkebile presents light-hearted proof that global warming is real.
Participants actively contribute  to identify regional gaps in green building resources and develop strategies to bridge those gaps.	The beautiful Cascadia Fellowship Award was presented to newly inducted Cascadia Fellows at the Big Bang- a culminating celebration filled with laughter, dinner, music and dancing!
