Finding Equilibrium AM

Presenter:

Alanna Fero, Career Management and Employee Engagement Expert, Vancouver, BC

(Not) Hitting Bottom in a Triple Bottom Line World: Applying Sustainability Principles to Hiring, Employee Engagement and Cultural Creation

Fero, a values-driven career management coach, recruiter and employee engagement consultant, has been noticing some trends over the past decade of her work. Many candidates are seeking a more heart-centered career path where they can make a genuine difference.  However, just as many are coming over from “green” or “progressive” organizations – social ventures, NGOs and not-for-profits – saying they are exhausted, they’ve given the best years of their lives and barely made a dent in the problem, and now they’re ready to just make some money. Says Fero: “For all the people who are becoming more attracted to values-oriented work, just as many are bottoming out, unable to justify the sacrifices anymore. We need to stretch our imaginations and find ways to preserve quality of life for individuals while we work to serve the collective good. And, yes, there are ways to do that, and many excellent employee engagement innovators leading the way.”  Fero’s interactive workshop will give participants an overview of key trends, explore a few case studies of burnout and its causes, and showcase a few employee engagement turnarounds and emerging best practices before opening the floor to discussion of these and related subjects.
