Kath's areas of specialization include greening of corporations and professional firms, LEED project development, LEED documentation, sustainability education and training, and strategic planning using the charrette process. She was the project chief for Montana State University's EPICenter project. Named as a Fulbright Senior Specialist in Sustainability, Kath contributed to the development of GreenStar, the green building rating system in Australia. She contributed to the development and formation of the India Green Building Council and is frequently welcomed "home" there as a keynote speaker for their annual Congress.
Kath served as vice chair of the U.S. Green Building Council for seven of its formative years. She went on to be USGBC's representative to World Green Building Council (WGBC) where she was twice-elected vice chair of the board and president. Her passion for developing country councils saw Taiwan GBC and Emirates GBC join the WGBC on her watch with Brazil and Mexico closely following.
Kath served as a LEED-Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) faculty member and recently, the KW+A team were primary content providers for the "Green Guide for Operations and Maintenance for U.S. Embassies and Consulates," commissioned by the U.S. Department of State Overseas Building Operations (OBO). KW+A was pleased to support the development of the Yellowstone Business Partnership's sustainable development standard, The Greater Yellowstone Framework. Developed by a team of regional volunteers, the framework outlines intents, requirements, strategies and technologies for appropriate development of small to large projects in the 25 counties surrounding Yellowstone and Teton National Parks.
