The Cascadia Green Building Council is hosting its fifth annual unconference, Living Future 2011, on April 27th - 29th, 2011 at the Sheraton Wall Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia.  Living Future is the forum for leading minds in the green building movement seeking solutions to the most daunting global issues of our time.  Out-of-the-ordinary learning and networking formats provide innovative design strategies, cutting-edge technical information, and the inspiration needed to achieve significant progress toward a truly living future.

This year’s educational program theme is “Our Children's Cities: Visualizing a Restorative Civilization”.  The Living Future Program Task Force is reviewing a wealth of submissions for interactive presentations, tours, and experiential activities that encourage a hopeful embrace of the region and planet’s economic, ecologic and social challenges, and offer solutions addressing these challenges at the building AND city scale.

Keynote Speakers

Focused on providing proven, practical, ambitious and visionary strategies that address whole earth impacts, a diverse collection of inspiring keynote and plenary speakers will surely keep the positive energy flowing throughout Living Future.  Eco-entrepreneur Majoria Carter takes the stage as keynote speaker to share her experiences on how proven yet affordable sustainability strategies hold the power to transform a community’s self-image while rejuvenating the environment around us.  On Thursday, Jason McLennan shares his ambitious ideas and insights on sustainable design and the evening brings visionary singer, songwriter and environmental activist Sarah Harmer to the stage for inspiration and entertainment during the Big Bang Dinner and Awards Ceremony.  On Friday, Margaret Wheatley, an author, organizational expert and President emerita of The Berkana Institute, will offer insights on how to accomplish work, sustain our relationships and willingly step forward to serve in these troubling times.
