show you how! This innovative session of presentation and interactive discussion led by key partners and audience explores zHome, a revolutionary development including a stewardship center. Catalyzing movement towards zero energy housing, zHome will be a first for multifamily, carbon neutral projects in the US aiming to transform the production housing market with an inspiring template low impact community living. Understand the public-private partnership between City of Issaquah, King County and Built Green to creating market transformation and education programs.

 

Presenter Bios

Brad Liljequist
Brad Liljequist is the program manager for zHome. For 23 years, he has worked as an urban designer and sustainable builder, seeking to positively integrate human and natural communities. Brad has worked extensively in both the public and private sectors, and believes that a synergy between the issues and competencies of both are critical for effective community development. In addition to zHome, he managed the Northshore Community Plan, the Quality Urban Environment Project, and development of a LEED platinum, near zero energy fire station. Educated at Georgetown University, the University of St. Andrews, and University of Washington.

Tom Marseille
A published author and frequent speaker, Tom has more than 28 years of energy consulting and high performance building design experience. Active as a green building advocate, Tom is a co-author of the USGBC/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 189.1 high performance green building standard. He currently sits on the Executive Committee for the Cascadia Board of Directors, and is on Seattle’s Living Building Pilot Program Technical Advisory Group. He served as a member of Seattle’s Green Building Task Force. Two of his projects have received society-level technology awards from ASHRAE.

Aaron Adelstein
Aaron leads one of the most successful green building certification programs in the U.S. with more than 700 member companies and 15,000 projects certified. Aaron has an M.S. in environmental policy from the University of Montana where he specialized in environmental advocacy strategies and trends in the Green Building Movement. He currently serves on numerous boards and task forces that are helping define the future of environmental policy in the region, and was named one of Puget Sound Business Journal’s 40 under 40 young outstanding executives in 2008.

Patti Southard
Patti leads initiatives for LEED Home and Built Green, chairs the Sustainable Cities Coalition and provides education to consumers through the “EcoCool” Tool and EcoCribz video series in King County. Patti is professionally trained in art and advertising and has transferred those skills into government. Since 2005 the GreenTools program has received awards from the American Academy of Visual Arts, International Academy of Visual Arts, Digital Government, Green Washington and the Harvard Kennedy. Current board positions include: President of the Northwest Natural Resource Group, New Orleans EcoVillage Park and zHome partnership.
