BUILDING RENEWAL - Making the business case for greening existing buildings!

Presenters:

Jonathan Westeinde
Vice President, Ledcor RENEW
Ledcor Construction Limited

Moderator:

Andrew Hull, Manager, Business Development,
Ledcor Construction Limited

Existing buildings are responsible for 35 percent of carbon emissions in North America and use more than half of our continent’s energy. New construction accounts for only 1.5% of all buildings. If we built all new construction to ILBI standards we would not have a major impact on reducing green house gases (GHGs) over the next 20 years.

Participants will learn how our greatest opportunity to reduce GHGs from buildings is by impacting existing buildings in a positive way.

Targeted towards designers, suppliers, building owners and building operators, using a combination of formal presentation and thought provoking studies, the panel members will encourage open audience participation to get at the core principles of why building renewal should be an integral part of our thinking and our future.

The take away will be an understanding of how a Single Point Accountability approach to Green Performance Solutions™ can make retro-fit of existing buildings profitable, sustainable and create healthier live and work environments.
