Early registration deadline tomorrow!
This innovative conference is the premier event for integrating green practices into all types of engineering – from the site to the systems. It will draw in professionals from the realms of civil, electrical, structural and mechanical engineering. Through technical trainings and workshops, attendees will be equipped with sufficient technical knowledge of green engineering practices, and will subsequently be empowered to integrate those practices into the holistic design process.

Kresge Foundation providing grant funding for projects pursuing the Living Building Challenge!
The Kresge Foundation is awarding planning grants ranging from $50,000-$100,000 to support the intergrated design process for new consruction projects designed to meet the Living Building Challenge.

Cascadia has won an Award of Excellence!
Cascadia Region Green Building Council has won a USGBC/ Milliken & Company Award of Excellence for Education. The award was presented at the annual Greenbuild Conference and Expo to Cascadia's Washington Director, Marni Kahn.

Greenbuild 2008 Call for Papers closes January 11th
USGBC is now accepting proposals for educational sessions for Greenbuild 2008. Sessions should reflect the program theme of Revolutionary Green: Innovations for Global Sustainability. The submission deadline is January 11th, at 5PM EST.

New Credentialing Organization Launched for Green Building Professionals

A newly incorporated entity, the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), has been established with the support of the U.S. Green Building Council to administer credentialing programs related to green building practice and standards.  GBCI was created to develop and administer credentialing programs aimed at improving green building practice.

High Point wins Urban Land Institute (ULI) Global Award for Excellence
The Urban Land Institute has awarded its most coveted award--the ULI Global Award for Excellence--to High Point, the Seattle Housing Authority's mixed-income, sustainable community in West Seattle. High Point is one of only five projects to win this award; the others are in Philadelphia, France, Poland, and Hong Kong.

City of Portland's RFP for Green Investment Fund

The City of Portland requests proposals for innovative, high performance green building projects. Funded through the City of Portland's Green Investment Fund (GIF), this grant supports the design and construction of highly innovative and comprehensive green building projects. The GIF is a partnership between the City of Portland's Office of Sustainable Development, Portland Water Bureau, Bureau of Environmental Services and Energy Trust of Oregon, Inc.

In the current round of funding to be awarded in 2008, a total of $425,000 is available. The maximum grant amount for any project is also $425,000.

Regreen Program Public Comment Period
The American Society of Interior Designers’ Foundation and the U.S. Green Building Council have partnered on the development of best practice guidelines and targeted educational resources for sustainable residential remodeling projects. This program will increase understanding of sustainable renovation project practices and benefits among homeowners, residents, design professionals, product suppliers and service providers to build both demand and industry capacity. The deadline to comment is Monday, December 10.

Public Review of Green Code Change Proposals- British Columbia
The Building and Safety Policy Branch (BSPB) in the Province of British Columbia is seeking public input on three proposals for changes to the BC Building Code. The public review is available online through the Office of Housing and Construction Standards web site. Comment forms may be submitted online until December 21st, 2007.
