Cascadia EGB team wins first place in the national Natural Talent Design Competition

Congratulations to Myer Harrell, Dan Albert, Brian Geller and Christopher Dukehart of the Seattle Emerging Green Builders, who took home first place in USGBC's Natural Talent Design Competition at Greenbuild in November for their design Eco-laboratory! Using Living Building Challenge standards, they designed an urban, high-rise, multi-use residence for a site in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood to create a self-sustaining, diverse community.

The competition provides university students and young design professionals with an applied learning experience in the principles of integrated design, sustainability, innovation, and social consciousness. Teams competed first at a regional level through their local USGBC Chapter; winners of those competitions moved on to the national competition at Greenbuild.

The team received first place in Cascadia's regional competition at Living Future 2008 in Vancouver, BC last April. Stay tuned for information about the 2009 Cascadia Natural Talent Design Competition, which will take place at Living Future 2009 in Portland in May.

Cascadia is proud of our bioregion's young talent!
