Christine Ervin

President, Christine Ervin/Company

Christine Ervin has led private-public collaborations to promote green market transformation for nearly 20 years.   As first President and CEO of the U.S. Green Buildings Council, she cultivated its growth into an influential coalition of 4,500 companies and organizations, 70 chapters and 50 staff.  During her tenure, the LEED® green building rating system became the defacto standard for high performance buildings in the U.S.   She also led efforts to launch the Greenbuild™ conference and expo as a vehicle for driving “green” into the mainstream market.

As Assistant Secretary of Energy for President Clinton, Christine oversaw $1 billion in clean technology investments across the economy.  In the buildings arena, she championed initiatives to leverage private capital for clean energy, the President’s Climate Change Action Plan, the High Performance Buildings collaborative, ENERGY STAR™ partnership with EPA, Million Solar Roofs, overhaul of national appliance standards and the nation’s first center for sustainable communities.   Previously, she was Director of Oregon’s Department of Energy, a project director at the World Wildlife Fund, and led executive budget policy for the State of Missouri.

Christine’s speaking and consulting firm is based in Portland, Oregon.
