LUCIA ATHENS

CHIEF SUSTAINABILITY OFFICER, CITY OF AUSTIN

Lucia Athens has over 25 years of experience creating and leading initiatives and policies to drive the growth of green buildings.  Currently the first-ever chief sustainability officer for the City of Austin, she spent 10 years at the helm of the City of Seattle's green building program before becoming the senior sustainable futures strategist for CollinsWoerman, a Seattle-based sustainable architecture, design and planning firm.  Athens has served in leadership positions with the boards of directors for the United States Green Building Council and the International Green Building Certificate Institute.

 

Peter busby
Managing Director, busby perkins + will

Peter Busby is an architect and a long-time advocate of sustainable design.  As managing director of Busby Perkins + Will, he managers over 100 employees in 23 countries across the globe, and serves as adviser for the firm's sustainable design initiative.  Busby is co-founder and recent chair of the Canada Green Building Council, a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada since 1997, and was invested as a member of the Governor General's Order of Canada in 2005.  He moderated a session at Living Future '11 regarding lessons learned in pursuit of the Living Building Challenge, to which Busby Perkins + Will's projects VanDusen Botanical Garden and Centre for Interactive Research of Sustainability (CIRS) are being built. 


PattI Southard

Greentools Program Manager, King County

Patti Southard has been a leader in the sustainable building industry for over a decade.  She is a program manager for King County's "GreenTools" program and as the creative director for the EcoConsumer Program, leads County-wide Built Green and LEED initiatives.  Southard also chairs the Sustainable Cities Coalition and provides education to consumers through King County's "EcoCool" Tool and EcoCribz video series.  She is currently board president of the Northwest Natural Resource Group, and sits on the boards of the New Orleans EcoVillage Park and zHome Partnership.
