LEED-AP Exam FAQ's
Who Administers the LEED AP Exam?
As of early 2008, the LEED AP Exam is administered and managed by the Green Building Certification Institute, a separately incorporated entity from the US Green Building Council and from Cascadia. For more information about GBCI, visit www.gbci.org.
What resources exist to help me study?
Aside from the LEED Reference Guide, Cascadia offers LEED-NC Version 2.2 Flash Cards and the Colorado Green Building Council offers a study guide. Additionally, Turner Construction and USGBC have developed an interactive, online course for the LEED-NC Version 2.2 exam. Furthermore, LEED-AP Yahoo groups have been formed for candidates in Portland and Vancouver, BC that are interested in organizing study groups. If you would like to join one of these groups, you can sign up at these links:

Which test should I take – NC, EB, or CI?
The nature of your work in the building industry should decide which test you take. If you primarily work on new construction projects, then you should take the New Construction version. If you primarily work on building operation and maintenance, then the Existing Building version is the more logical one for you. If you focus on commercial interior design, then Commercial Interiors is the most appropriate option. One should know that, regardless of which version of the test you take, the credential as a LEED Accredited Professional is all the same. You need not take more than one exam to become LEED AP.
Does Cascadia offer exam preparation courses?
Yes, Cascadia periodically offers exam preparation courses in the form of technical reviews and exam preparation workshops. Check Cascadia’s calendar or Programs page for upcoming technical reviews and/or exam prep courses.
What’s the difference between a LEED technical review and a LEED exam prep course?
A technical review is a workshop that instructs participants on the LEED rating system and process, with a portion of the workshop covering the exam. Participants do not need any prior technical knowledge of LEED for the review. A LEED exam prep course is entirely focused on preparing one to take the exam, and it is assumed that one has familiarity with the rating system.
Where and when is the test administered?
You can take the test at any time; there are no specific scheduled dates for the exam. The test can only be taken at a Prometric test site. To find the closest test site near you and to schedule an exam, please visit the Prometric website: http://www.prometric.com/USGBC
What is the pass rate on the exam?
GBCI does not provide pass rates to the public.
